Sustainable Soul Business: The Work Of A Lifetime
Sustainable Soul Business. Boy, that is a mouthful!
But for this generation of change-makers, we can't settle for anything less.
So what does it actually mean?
Awakening people to their true power and potential creates immeasurable sustainability. Awakening souls to experience sustainability is what I do.
That is who I am.
"I’m awakening souls
to their own
sustainability...
one soul at a time."
I do have a traditional business. And I have created several traditional businesses worth millions that actually have 'soul' and are 'sustainable.' But my real business - the business I was assigned by the Universe is revealing people's potential.
My journey started many years ago (as in January of 2022, I will turn 75 years old). When I was still a teenager, a relative taught me the Universal Laws of energy and vibration. I learned about my own mind, emotions, physical body, and inner personal power and divine Spirit. I learned to search for my own Truth and answers in my inner world, rather than in the outer world of circumstances, events and other people.
Even at that tender age, I learned to connect with my spiritual self, to come into the world intimate with that connection. Rather than feeling separate from Spirit, then searching for God somewhere out in the world like so much of humanity, I naturally functioned from a place of connection to divine intelligence. I feel so fortunate to have learned such things at such a young age; they have served me well, and now, it is my joy to share this wisdom in my work.
As a Life and Executive Coach and Transformational Corporate Trainer, I see thousands of people who feel lonely and disconnected, searching for answers outside of themselves. So my lifelong commitment has been to awaken people to a simple yet profound Truth; that alignment with universal energy - that which we all call 'God' or the 'Divine' - trumps all other strategies.
When we align with our higher self through connecting with the inner plane, we create the possibility of Magical Flow! The kind of flow where we always find ourselves in the right place at the right time; those times where we are given just the perfect challenges in life in order to experience circumstances that become gifts of wisdom and experience; the flow where we continually grow in wealth, health, vitality, happiness, and love.
My life's work is teaching others how to access and harness that extraordinary inner power and the wisdom of the ages. My life's work is having your life work better.
I have witnessed the lives of the lost and the lonely - the spiritually disconnected.
Years ago, I cared for an abandoned eight-year-old girl. Her parents had left her alone when she was seven, along with her 4-year-old and 2-year-old sisters. They were alone for over eight weeks, and by the time they were found, they were starving - eating out of garbage cans; they were frightened and tattered and dirty.
The State of Texas put the eldest in a foster home, and the two young ones were put up for adoption, much to the distress of their older sister. She was angry that her sisters were separated from her. They were "her babies" - and because she was angry, the State decided she needed strong medication to subdue her. She was given psychotic drugs to calm her down, which only made her situation worse. By the time I got her, she was sad, numb, frightened, and alone.
She came to live with me in Aspen, Colorado and I spent the next 8 years doing my best to heal those very deep wounds. We made progress together in that healing but never got to the place where she was ever back in touch with her highest self. I did my best. And so did she. But some wounds go too deep and take longer than a mere 8 years to heal.
But we worked on it together, and she is better off from it. And so am I.
It is a matter of awareness and choice.
Since that time, I have trained hundreds of thousands of people worldwide in the art and technology of energy, vibration, and how to communicate and connect. I continue this work because it is worthwhile. Small successes are better than not trying. And I know the Soul is worth it. If I can help someone along the way to connect with their Soul and Higher Self, then I am one step closer to 'sustainability.' And that is my 'business.'
The Law of Attraction is the law that says whatever vibration you are operating at, that events, circumstances, opportunities, and resources of the same vibration will be attracted to you.
Our emotions of love, gratitude, service, patience, humility, and contentment are much higher vibrations than those emotions of anger, impatience, frustration, confusion, regret, guilt, or shame.
When we fall into the lower vibrational emotions, we must be committed to pulling ourselves out of self-pity and anger and create a higher vibrational response to the events we are experiencing.
It is a matter of awareness and choice. We all have at least one choice all the time in life - a choice of how we will respond to the circumstance in front of us.
We may not choose the circumstances in our lives, but we can always choose how to respond to them.
The traumatised young girl who came to live with me did not have the choice of whether she would be abandoned, but she had the choice to respond, and she did her best. However, she also got caught up in her anger and fear. She formed bad habits and automatic responses that were not in her best interest. It was to be expected, but I did the best I could to teach her new possibilities.
Over time, she developed the awareness to make new choices, and then gradually, she began developing new habits. The change process may take time, but what could be a more valuable assignment than this work? This is what sustainability means - possessing the personal power to respond to life and evolve in tune with your deepest truths and highest self values.
In this current paradigm of perturbation, we are all called to re-evaluate this skill for ourselves, our families, communities and the planet.
Spend some time thinking about how you can cultivate 'sustainability' from your Soul - the ability to endure across the various domains of life, motivated by your highest self.
Here are some simple practices that can have exponential results:
Develop a habit of patience - try to be a bit more patient each day than you were the day before.
Take time to reflect and be still - schedule 'white space' into your day when you can open and explore the inner domains of the experience of yourself.
Allow things to be the way they are and be grateful for them, rather than whining or being sad about the way they are not.
Love yourself, along with those you love. Taking care of others is a good deed for sure, but unless you are whole first, then you are no good to others - so take care of yourself too! Give yourself the love, attention, and nurturing you need - along with all the others you serve.
When I was married years ago, my 16-year-old stepson committed suicide. He wanted to live with his father and me and was told "no" by his mother; that same day, he got an F in a class, had a fight with his best friend, and his girlfriend broke up with him. It was the Perfect Storm.
Fortunately for me, I had spent the entire previous day with him, and I will never forget that day.
He had come to visit me on our farm by the river in Louisville, KY, while his father was on a business trip in New York. We sat in the Gazebo by the Ohio River and talked for hours. I was teaching him to drive, and we raced our Labrador dogs, Summer and Gallagher, in the old SUV across the fields. We laughed. We shared stories of what we wanted in life. I helped him with some school work.
The next day, I joined my then husband in New York, and that same night, this beautiful young Soul took his life and hung himself in his bedroom closet.
After many years, that event is still a painful memory and a great loss for all. And it was also the beginning of the breakdown of my marriage. I can honestly say that I did my best then too. And I gave the most I could. I think that is all one can ask of oneself. Life carries on. We must carry on.
Now, I am at peace in all that I do and profoundly grateful still to be in the business of awakening Souls to experience true sustainability... one Soul at a time.
